About the Position: As a Supervisory Logistics Management Specialist, you will oversee all logistic functions and related responsibilities for an organization, you will manage the work of others, and you will provide logistics support affecting command operations.This position is located at the Deputy J4 for Special Operations Command South (SOCSOUTH) located in Homestead, FL.

Duties

Represents organization with all logistics matters and has the full authority to commit organization logistics resources. Participates in committees and conferences representing the organization and discusses all matters related to the command logistics program. Coordinates long-range planning and programming in line with directorate policies, general requirements, and availability of funds. Confers with subordinate supervisors regarding planning and progress of work; and discusses areas of difficulty, provides interpretation and guidance as required. Oversees operations, reviews reports and correspondence, and identifies areas of deficiency to include directing corrective action. Develops logistic assistance plans, budgetary and personnel requirements, manages operations, and identifies training needs. Provides supervision and leadership for subordinate supervisors and evaluates overall performance of subordinate supervisors/leaders. Interviews candidates for vacant positions, makes selections for subordinate supervisory and non-supervisory positions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top-Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position has been designated as "Key" and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization as doing so would seriously impair the capability of the organization to function effectively.
  • The selectee must be exempted from recall to active duty and will receive training to ensure mission accomplishment of sustaining base operations during mobilization.
  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This is a Term position scheduled to last 4 years. A term position may be extended to a maximum of six years depending upon the needs of management.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Human Resources ManagementOral CommunicationOrganizational AwarenessPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Separated Military Members: Resumes will be accepted from members of the Armed Forces who indicate in their applications that they are available for appointment within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
