You will serve as a MAIL ASSISTANT in the Navy Medical Records Activity (NMRA) of BUREAU OF MEDICINE AND SURGERY. ***This Job Opportunity Announcement is using an additional online assessment tool to evaluate applicants. Duties

You will perform a variety of mail related duties in support of BUMED HQ Det St Louis Mission. You will interface and conduct routine business with all levels of staff members at the detachment. You will drive on a daily basis to pickup and deliver mail (classified to Secret) to the U.S. Postal Service and other locations as directed. You will prepare and complete trip tickets and preventative maintenance service records. You will assure vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity by checking cargo, paper and visual observations. You will walk, stand, bend, carry items weighing 70 lbs ( pounds) or less without assistance, maintenance or supply inventory.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of SPECIALIZED experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Receiving, reading, classifying, examining, and routing correspondence, messages, reports, publications, and other miscellaneous materials to various administrators and managers. Reading and distributing materials, and determining which office (s) has cognizance over the subject matter. Receiving and checking the presence of all accountable material, signing and receiving all accountable mail, including classified documents, Fed-X, UPS, and other private mail, service parcels through a manual or automated process. Obtaining signatures from authorized personnel for accountable mail, parcels, Fed-X, and other private mail service parcels and flats. Furnishing mail and information services such as proper size and weight of packages that may be mailed. Processing express mail and packages for shipping. Operating a government motor vehicle and ability to lift 70 pounds. Delivering and picking up packages from offsite contractor daily. Picking up and dropping off packages from the United States Postal service.
