THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION
This National Guard position is for an Artillery Repairer, Position Description Number D12240000 and is part of the Kansas Army National Guard.
Duties
As an Artillery Repairer, WG-6605-10, you will perform maintenance, repair, and inspections on the electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components on armored vehicle turrets Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Kansas National Guard Membership is required.
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- Must possess a valid Kansas State driver's license prior to appointment
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance within one year of appointment.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications
Military Grades: E1 through E8
Compatible Military Assignments: Immaterial
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and to make adjustments and settings according to established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification. Experience coordinating the work of other mechanics, and scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow. Must have the ability to instruct lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls sufficient for the exhibit to be returned to its shipping container.
PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work involves bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling. Works in confined spaces and in awkward positions. Lifts and carries parts and assemblies weighing from 15 to 25 pounds. Some may weigh as much as 40 pounds. Weight handling equipment or the assistance of other workers is available for heavy lifts.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done in shop areas that are drafty and noisy. Frequently stands on hard surfaces for long periods. Dirt, dust, and grease are usually present. There is exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and sprains as well as to falls on slippery and inclined surfaces.
