Duties
You will perform a wide range of activities involved in receiving, issuing, storing, segregating, selecting handling, prepping, inventorying and shipping ordnance material.
You will ensure that assets stored/stowed in magazines, warehouses, outside storage, and vessels are in accordance with drawings, load plans, and safety/fire/security regulations.
You will offload and onload ordnance materials from trucks, rail cars, vessels, and other conveyances using forklifts, manual and mechanized pallet jacks, side loaders and stacker cranes.
You will be required to work with hazardous materials such as industrial solvents of a toxic nature and paints and will be exposed to hazards associated with the use of these items.
You will inspect material to ensure that all the processing inspection requirements have been met in preparation for final inspection.
You will assure conformance to all specified technical requirements and safety standards for ordnance material and operations as related to handling, renovation, preservation, and packaging of such items.
You will be responsible for Receipt, Segregation, Storage, and Issue (RSSI), processing final receipt and issue documentation.
You will be accountable for all material stored within a designated facility, group of facilities, conveyance, or storage areas.
You will operate vehicles in support of movement of ordnance materials and must have certification as required by applicable safety procedures and requirements.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- This position requires you to obtain and maintain Ordnance and Explosive Certification requirements within 6 months of employment.
- This position requires you to posses and maintain a U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO) Certification with a Hazardous material Driver endorsement as well as obtain and maintain explosive driver's and forklift operator's licenses.
- This position requires you to be trained and certified as an Ordnance Materials Handler within 30 days of employment.
- This position requires you to maintain a Conventional Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives(AAandE) Screening.
- This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding and lift heavy items in kneeling or other awkward positions.
- This position requires you to possess normal hearing and vision including the ability to distinguish basic colors.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
