You will serve as an Electrician in the Production Division, Public Works Dept of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE. Duties

You will maintain and repair installed electrical systems such as lighting fixtures, power fixtures and wiring, power sources, and fire alarm systems. You will locate broken, worn, damaged, or poorly operating wiring, fixtures, controls, and equipment through visual checks or through use of test equipment. You will remove, replace, tighten, splice, solder, and insulate defective wiring, controls, equipment, and fixtures. You will use a limited variety of test equipment, such as meggers, test lamps, and ammeters. You will read, interpret, and apply blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, National Electrical Code, specifications, and related requirements.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You must be able to become CPR certified.
  • You may be required to obtain and maintain current licenses to operate Folk Lift, High Lift (JLG), Bucket Truck and/or construction equipment.
  • You may be required to obtain and maintain additional special certifications or licenses if assigned work that requires such certifications and licenses.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Maintaining and repairing installed electrical systems such as lighting fixtures, power fixtures and wiring, power sources, and fire alarm systems; 2) Locating broken, worn, damaged, or poorly operating wiring, fixtures, controls, and equipment through visual checks or through use of test equipment; 3) Removing, replacing, tightening, splicing, soldering, and insulating defective wiring, controls, equipment, and fixtures; 4) Utilizing a limited variety of test equipment, such as meggers, test lamps, and ammeters; 5) Reading, interpreting, and applying blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, National Electrical Code, specifications, and related requirements.
