This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Laborer position at London, WV within the Huntington District, performing a variety of facility and grounds maintenance; will work under the supervision of the Site Manager, and other higher-graded employees.

Duties

Assist with removing, loading, unloading, disposing brush and painting. Operate motorized government vehicles to transport supplies and/or materials to various locations throughout the project. Able to read and follow both oral and written instructions. Perform maintenance on vehicles. Opening and unpacking cartons. Custodial duties such as sweeping and emptying trash. Occasional use of simple hand and power tools.

  • Requirement of a valid State motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Pre-employment physical required.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Laborer(MVO) without more than normal supervision. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to perform manual tasks that require a basic understanding of cleaning, grounds maintenance and lifting procedures; routine operator maintenance of hand tools and equipment; safely used industrial cleaners (typically used in households) and basic hand and yard tools and equipment, such as a rake, pitch fork, wheelbarrow, hand-pump sprayer, hand truck, shovel, push lawn mower (manual), hammer, screwdriver, wrench, and pliers; and performed routine work assignments with little or no assistance. The duties require light to moderate physical effort which involves moderate lifting and carrying light to medium-weight objects weighing up to 30 pounds and walking, bending, stooping, standing, and reaching. Work may be outdoors with exposure to all kinds of weather conditions, but usually not in bad weather. May be exposed to drafty, noisy, dusty, and dirty conditions. The work involves standing and walking on create floors and uneven terrain.
