As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as a subject matter expert on a diverse range of professional engineering issues. Location of position: PBS, Heartland Region, Kansas City, MO
The Design and Construction Division develops and delivers workplace environments and solutions to support our customers' needs through planning, design, and construction. We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.

The GS-13 salary range starts at $105,029.00 per year. If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected. BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ENGINEERS: A Degree in professional engineering OR a combination of college-level education, training, and/or technical experience. For specifics on qualifying education and/or experience - use the following link: Basic Requirements for Engineer Positions.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: In addition to the Basic Requirements, all candidates must possess specialized experience defined as experience as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical consultant in applying professional mechanical engineering principles, concepts, and practices with the full range of mechanical systems including all primary HVAC components, distribution systems, controls, and plumbing. This must include experience with commissioning of high risk and cost mechanical systems, inspections, and troubleshooting difficult or unusual designs and existing conditions; application of applicable industry policies and standards, energy saving requirements, and the International Business Code, as well as experience with cross-discipline elements such as electrical, fire protection systems, and advanced metering systems.
