This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Fort Drum, the home of the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), is located in Northern New York.

Duties

Maintains inventory of expendable items such as petroleum oil products, paints, safety equipment. Maintains radio contact with shop supervisors and equipment operators in order to pass on supervisors’ instructions or keep supervisor informed of developments or situations requiring their attention. Conducts periodic inventories by counting items in stock. Issues tools and equipment to other Public Works personnel. Dispatches vehicles and equipment to staff members including maintaining vehicle dispatch logs. Operates motor vehicles weighing 8000 to 10000 pounds on post to receive and transport supplies and equipment. Reports overages, shortages or damaged items to supervisor.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position requires a government driver's license.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position.
  • This is a seasonal position. Seasonal employment means annually recurring periods of work that typically last six months each year but may vary depending upon the needs of management.
  • Seasonal positions are permanent. Employees are placed in a non-duty, non-pay status in the off-season and recalled to duty the following work season. Seasonal employees are eligible to receive the same benefits offered to full-time employees.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Tools & Parts Attendant (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks including receiving, issuing and storing tools and equipment and inspecting tools and equipment upon return. I can receive, store and issue tools and equipment and inspect equipment upon return. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below.
