This position is located within the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research(CDER), Office of Management (OM), Division of Management Services (DMS), Immediate Office (IO). The office is located in Silver Spring, MD This position is remote-within the local commuting area. If selected, you must reside in the local commuting area and will have to report to an FDA worksite on an irregular basis.

Duties

Obtains and verifies information by researching office records and reference documents and by conferring with program officials within and outside the Division. Provides technical assistance in the administration, development, and management of division databases, records management, and information storage sites. Plans, schedules, executes, and provides status of assigned projects through interaction with OM and Division staff and if required, other supervisors and directors. Identifies project activities or situations that may adversely impact project plans and advises supervisor. Provides immediate and continuing staff assistance to DMS leadership on a variety of confidential and sensitive matters by keeping abreast of all ongoing operations and management activities. Performs research, conducts studies, and evaluates and analyzes data on program management issues which span the overall management of the Division. Possesses expert analytical skills and expert level knowledge of a range of project management and specialized program analysis tools and techniques required to perform daily tasks and special projects. Serves as a primary point of contact for the coordination and communication between Division Director and external customers, and other support staff.

Qualifications

The position of Project Specialist falls within the 0301 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-12, you must meet Time-in-Grade requirements by 11:59 pm EST on 03/29/2024. Minimum Qualifications: Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. The specialized experience must demonstrate one year of full-time work experience , or the equivalent if part-time (for example, an employee working 20 hours per week for a 12-month period should be credited with 6 months of experience.) Experience may have been obtained in either the federal service or its equivalent with state or local government, the private sector, or nongovernmental organizations. Specialized Experience GS-12 You must possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower level GS-11 or equivalent band level of responsibility in the Federal Service which includes at least three or more of the following (1)Planning, organizing, and carrying out varied projects; (2) Supporting staff in project development and the dissemination of project information to related work groups; (3) Participating in program improvements or processes; (4) Providing guidance in task related to managing the division's databases. Time-in-Grade: Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service). Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. In accordance with Office of Personnel Management policy, federal employees are assumed to have gained experience by performing duties and responsibilities appropriate for their official series and grade level as described in their position description. Experience that would not normally be part of the employee's position is creditable, however, when documented by satisfactory evidence, such as a signed memorandum from the employee's supervisor or an SF-50 or SF-52 documenting an official detail or other official assignment. The documentation must indicate whether the duties were performed full time or, if part time, the percentage of times the other duties were performed. It is expected that this documentation is included in the employee's official personnel record.
