About the Position: This is an Automotive Mechanic, WG-5823-10, position with the Army Tank-Automotive and Armament Command (TACOM), Directorate of Public Works; Equipment Division Located in Red River Army Depot (RRAD), Texas.

Duties

Make repairs to material handling equipment such as forklifts, cranes, and warehouse tractors. Perform electronic troubleshooting on equipment consisting of man lifts, electrical and diesel material handling equipment.v Trouble shoot electrical circuits by using test equipment such as voltmeter, ampmeter, and ohmmeters for material handling equipment. Follow appropriate specifications to adhere to the manufacturing manuals and procedures. Fabricate metal parts utilizing various welding methods for metal repair.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position requires frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing over 50 pounds.

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions-Work is primarily performed inside where it is drafty and noisy, and fumes from vehicles are usually present. Frequently stands on hard surfaces for long periods of time. Occasionally performs repairs outside, sometimes in bad weather. Dirt, dust, and grease are always present. Vehicle fluids such as battery acids and hydraulic fluids may cause burns or irritate the skin. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, and strains
