You will serve as an Aircraft Mechanic in the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Production Department of FLTREADCEN EAST.

Duties

You will perform disassembly, maintenance and repair, and assemble fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components, and assemblies. You will perform a variety of complex and advanced metal repair, fabrication, plan, layout and structural disassembly/assembly of aircraft and aircraft components. You will perform repair, fabrication, modification, removal, and installation of composite and/or plastic items, parts, assemblies, and structures. You will calibrate and install electrical systems, equipment, and accessories on various fixed and rotary wing aircraft, aircraft systems, and aircraft components and assemblies.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.

Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (1) Perform, at the journey level, disassembly, maintenance and repair, and assemble fixed and rotary wing aircraft systems, airframes, components, and assemblies while assisting other mechanics qualified at a same or higher level for airframe mechanics in the full range of their duties; (2) Perform at the full or training level a variety of complex and advanced metal repair, fabrication, plan, layout, and structural disassembly/assembly of aircraft and aircraft components as well as constructing, assembling, and installing irregular items/systems and devising complex templates/patterns into shapes (rectangular, cylindrical, tapered, etc.); (3) Perform at the full or training level of repair, fabrication, modification, removal, and installation of composite and/or plastic items, parts, assemblies, and structures. Composite/plastic fabricating work requires knowledge of the physical properties and working characteristics of plastic, composite, and compound ingredients, with a working knowledge of metals, metal properties, and metal characteristics; (4) Performs at the full or training level a variety of electrician duties, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying, as well as calibrating and installing electrical systems, equipment, and accessories on various fixed and rotary wing aircraft, aircraft systems, and aircraft components and assemblies; and (5) Perform at the full or training level of installation, modification, overhaul, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic equipment ranging from equipment of limited complexity such as subassemblies, printed circuit cards, and chassis to complete electronics systems.
