This position is located in Office of Privacy.
As a Government Information Specialist (Privacy Analyst) you will investigate, evaluate, resolve privacy related issues, update privacy-related initiatives covered by appropriate privacy compliance documentation, and collaborate with USCIS stakeholders to ensure all IT systems and program initiatives are properly documented.
Duties
The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
Works with USCIS program offices and directorates on new and ongoing initiatives to ensure compliance with federal privacy laws(Privacy Act of 1974, E-Government Act of 2002, Homeland Security Act of 2002, and DHS policies and procedures).
Research and analyze new and ongoing initiatives to ensure information collections and uses are compatible with USCIS’ mission and legal authorities.
Drafts and reviews PTAs, PIAs, SORNs, and Privacy Act Statements or Privacy Notices to ensure USCIS’ initiatives adheres to Federal privacy laws and DHS privacy policies and procedures.
Serve as the privacy compliance liaison to the Department on behalf of USCIS program offices and directorates.
Evaluates various reports and correspondence to determine privacy policy applicability and levels of privacy risk.
Communicate timelines, processes, issues, and mitigation strategies to ensure USCIS projects are adequately covered by privacy compliance documentation and complies with statutory, regulatory, and DHS privacy policy requirements.

GS-12: You qualify at the GS-12 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Interprets and communicates federal privacy laws, programs, and policies.
Reviews agency initiatives to determine privacy sensitive activities and identifies privacy compliance documentation coverage.
Researches various topics to draft Privacy Threshold Analysis (PTAs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), System of Records Notices (SORNs), and other privacy compliance documents.
GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Analyzes and applies federal privacy laws, programs and policies to Program Offices and Directorates.
Reviews agency initiatives to determine privacy sensitive activities, identify privacy compliance documentation coverage, and recommend privacy mitigations.
Drafts and reviews privacy compliance documentation, including Privacy Threshold Analysis (PTAs), Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), System of Record Notices (SORNs), and Privacy Act Statements or Privacy Notices.
