You will serve as a Freight Rate Assistant at the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP), Fleet Logistics Center Jacksonville, Supply Department. The duty station is Meridian, MS.
Duties
You will provide technical guidance for traffic management, and freight shipping services for NAS Meridian, training squadrons, and all tenant commands.
You will process Supply Discrepancy Reporting (SOR), DD Form 364, for misdirected material, overages, shortages, lost, damaged and other shipping discrepancies in accordance with NAVSUPINST 4400.79.
You will perform follow-up with Inventory Control Points (ICP) regarding status of SDRs submitted and take action accordingly.
You will determine the appropriate shipment method for outgoing material based on size/weight, priority and required delivery date and prepare shipping labels for material to be shipped.
You will enter shipping information into the FACTS database to generate bill of lading through the Regional Transportation Office (RTO) and prepare documents to ship material via overnight delivery service with contracted carrier.
You will track shipping status of outbound shipments per receiving customer's request, via automated and hard copy files.
You will make shipping arrangements for the return of Detachment Pack-Up material from off-station site to NAS Meridian.
You will inspect scrap metal bins for unauthorized/unacceptable material and proper separation of material.
You will process inbound and outbound shipments of Class A and B ammunition, Explosives, and HAZMAT.
Requirements

- You will be required to maintain eligibility for a secret level security clearance. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level eligibility may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

- You must be able to obtain/maintain proper licensing (CDL A, B OR C if required) as well as drivers license and government operator permit as determined by employing command with HAZMAT certification to transport hazardous material.
- You must obtain and maintain required licensing and certifications within the timelines prescribed by the Command
- You must be able to distinguish basic colors.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You must attend and successfully complete Naval Motor Vehicle and Railcar Inspection course, the Inspection of Hazardous Material Course, and the Hazmat Shipping Certification Training Courses
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector procuring of common carrier and other transportation service by rail, motor, air, water, and/or miscellaneous means for freight and/or materials and performing the following;
1) Determining the appropriate shipment method for outgoing material based on size/weight, priority and required delivery date
2) Determining the proper separation/organization of materials in inventory
3) Preparing shipping labels for material to be shipped and entering shipping information into a database to generate bills of lading
4) Tracking shipping status of outbound shipments at customer's request
5) Reviewing customer's turn-in, shipping, and other documents for completeness and correctness
6) Processing inbound and outbound shipments in accordance with corporate or command policies and procedures
