This positions are located at Aliamanu Pool (Honolulu), and Helemano Pool (Wahiawa) on the Island of Oahu. Duties

Performs periodic water tests and reports results to the pool leader on duty. Employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests. Responsible for lifeguarding guests in attendance at the assigned aquatics facility Assists in maintaining pool, and area clean and free from any hazards. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of teaching aquatic swimming and water survival training according to TC 21-21.

Requirements

• Must have current health assessment which documents good physical health and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy
• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
• Must be able to work continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
• May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
• The following certificates must be obtained within 6 months of appointment: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent; OR American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor or nationally recognized equivalent.
• Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2.
• Incumbent may also require complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
• In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children.
• Must be able to work weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
• Must be able to pass swim and CPR/AED assessment prior to oral interview which includes: demonstration of 300 meter swim, treading water, retrieval of mannequin from pool, and demonstration of CPR/AED.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 1. American Red Cross "Lifeguard" certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates Lifeguard Certification. 2. American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional Rescuer" (CPR-Pro) certification or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Ellis & Associates (CPR) Certification. Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualifications criteria above to be considered for this job position.
