About the Position: Join an outstanding legal team supporting complex throughout Florida and the Antilles. This position provides administrative and legal support to Jacksonville District's Office of Counsel which has 6 paraprofessionals and over 20 attorneys. Duties

Responsible for office administration matters, such as preparing and tracking travel orders, coordinating and purchasing training opportunities, and records management. Assists management with workforce management tasks such as recruiting processes, responding to data requests, and preparation of reports. Receives telephone calls, e-mails, and visitors, provides information or other assistance, or refers inquiries to appropriate staff members. Responsible for clerical support and legal assistance to the attorneys in all practice areas, including maintaining files in the electronic network filing system and updating the case management database. Performs multiple and varied clerical duties, such as maintaining office property log, using the government purchase card to procure training opportunities and assisting with tracking and reporting requirements. Maintains office calendars and schedules appointments and meetings. Assists attorneys in preparation of legal filings, administrative records, and discovery responses for submission to court, board, or opposing party. Assists attorneys and paralegals in proofing and finalizing legal filings and pleadings, using computer software to correct format and checking readability, continuity, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Assists the office with time and attendance, IT support, and property accountability.

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes preparing legal documents in accordance with regulations and laws. Locating and compiling data or information from legal files and other data sources. Utilizing a personal computer and office automation software programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Paralegal studies or Law. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. To qualify at the GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing legal documents, retrieving and assembling information for hearings and/or trial use, researching a variety of legal sources to obtain and/or verify information and using automated software to produce legal related reports and documents. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-06 OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Paralegal studies or Law. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Legal, Government and JurisprudenceTeamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-4, GS-5 and GS-6 respectively.
