This position is located at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in the Facility Management Division. Duties

The primary purpose of this position is to operate gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction heavy equipment. The vehicle(s) operated by this position meet the definition of a commercial motor vehicle, and the incumbent of the position is required to possess and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brakes, Tanker and Semi Endorsements. Below are a list of common daily duties: Operates gasoline or diesel-powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler type traction, such as road graders, tractors with bulldozer or angle dozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, wheel loader, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments. Operates up to 14 cubic yard straight dump trucks or truck tractor with belly or side dump trailers for the purpose of moving dirt, blacktop and coarse materials for roadway and shoulder, hauling riprap, barriers, and logs. Uses hand and power tools to repair damaged pavement. Works with chain saws to remove fallen trees and debris from roads and roadsides.

(SCREEN OUT) To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability to Drive Safely (Motor Vehicles) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (related to mobile equipment operation) Ability To Operate Safely (Non-Motor Vehicle) Operation of Motor Vehicles Reliability and Dependability as a Engineer Equipment Operator Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order) If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. In preparing your application, describe in detail the experience and training which you have had that specifically prepared you for this job and to perform the following duties: (1) operating gasoline or diesel-powered heavy equipment; (2) operating five cubic-yard dump trucks, road graders, front-end loaders, and equipment with blades for snow removal; (3) maintained a commercial driver's license (4) used any of the previous listed equipment to move and load materials such as dirt, snow, and other material on various surfaces and weather conditions under general supervision.
