Duties
Incumbent responsible for the inspection of new procurement, redistribution, and customer returns.
Performs inspections to determine identification, contract compliance, classification code, proper preservation,
packaging, palletization, marking for storage, damage, serviceability, and shelf-life status.
Utilizes specialized technical manuals/publications and automated/web-based systems to include Distribution
Standard System (DSS), Web Federal Logistics Information Service (Web FLIS), Wide Area Workflow (WAAF).
Inspect items to ensure proper documentation meets contractual and specification requirements as to type, size,
quantity, condition, dimensions, workmanship, preservation and packing, packaging, marking and for damage in
transit.
Arranges for operational or functional test to determine correct condition, reparability of returns items and
collaborates with, Inventory Control Point-Item Managers, and Quality Assurance Specialists on determining
restoration or rework costs.
Responsible for ensuring safety procedures and requirements are followed; equipment inspections are completed
daily, work areas is clean daily, supply needs are relayed to supervisor.
Utilizes specialized technical manuals/publications and automated/web-based systems to include Hazardous Materials Information Resource System (HMIRS), and Defense Distribution Center (DDC).

Qualifications
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying. Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
Ability to do the work of a Materials Examiner and Identifier without more than normal supervision (SOE): Perform the common tasks of the job to be filled, such as assign receiving classifications, and compare contract documents and bills of lading against materials received using reference manuals, remote computer terminals, microfiche files, bar code identifiers, printouts, and equipment specifications to verify the accuracy of receiving and shipping documents with actual type, quantity, and quality of materials or equipment being processed.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Physical Effort: Work requires active physical effort including extensive walking, bending, stooping and pushing and pulling heavy material along conveyor lines, climbing ladders, stairways and prolonged standing. May require heavy lifting up to 70 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is normally performed inside warehouses, which may be hot, cold, damp, dusty and drafty. May be required to work outside. Subjected to inclement weather. May be subjected to cuts, bruises, abrasions and scrapes in moving or handling material. Subject to hazards of working with hazardous items, and working too close to moving equipment, such as forklift trucks, Raymond Lifts, and conveyor lines.
