The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Maintenance Supervisor. The Maintenance Supervisor will function under the Facilities Management Service.
Duties
The duties of the position may include but, are not limited to:
The position has full responsibility for the supervision of the planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and managing processes for Mechanical Maintenance & Repair, Operations.
The position advises the Maintenance & Operations Supervisor and the Assistant Chief of FMS the methods, techniques, and procedures necessary to integrate the Mechanical Maintenance and Repair programs into the mission of the Healthcare System.
The position has full decision-making authority, responsibility, and accountability on all issues regarding the Maintenance and Repair of the Plumbing, Pipefitting, Heating, Air Conditioning, and Laundry Equipment.
Supervises all aspects of the maintenance and repair of all medical center buildings and structures, all building service equipment (including but not limited to steam distribution, HVAC systems, medical gas systems, and non-medical equipment.
Responsible for the overall energy performance and efficiency of the entire facility inventory to include all compliance and regulatory goals and targets.
Overall responsibility for the review of all actions relating to or impacting any component of the utility infrastructure to ensure no action impacts the delivery of services or the degradation of facility capabilities.
Responsible for the Medical Center Legionella Prevention program, in regard to testing, flushing and preventative maintenance in accordance with VHA Directive 1061.
Responsible for all aspects of the administrative support operations which includes facility service scheduling, purchasing, inventory, records upkeep (archives and indexing) and portions of the Environment of Care (EOC) program.
Responsible for the oversight and integration of all facility and network software support systems in the daily operations of the entire utility infrastructure and physical plant. Maintains and oversees the archiving and database containing the historical performance of equipment and devices supporting hospital operations.
Ensures internal personnel-related programs are dealt with in a timely and efficient manner.
Communicates agency and local policies and priorities to all employees within the service; delegates to each section chief the authority and responsibility to carry out assigned tasks; follows progress of each and recommends improvements to be made where warranted; ensures labor/management relations are maintained in accordance with Medical Center policy and procedures.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am -4:30pm

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: This position requires walking, standing, bending, sitting, crawling and climbing. Incumbent must have good vision, with or without glasses. May lift or carry tools, equipment, ladders, scaffolding, parts and supplies up to 50 pounds. May occasionally lift and carry items over 50 pounds.
