The Housekeeping Aid Leader for VA Loma Linda Healthcare System, Environmental Management Service, trains and leads Housekeeping Aids in nonsupervisory work of the housekeeping occupation. The selectee will report to the Unit Supervisor, assisting them with the daily functions of work and staff responsibilities to ensure work assignments are completed to the highest level of cleanliness.

Duties

Duties include but are not limited to: Leads the work of Housekeeping Aids in a variety of cleaning tasks to include: sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, mopping, wiping surfaces, fixtures in clinical and public spaces in the facility. Trains non-supervisory staff on the Service's Standard Operating Procedures and work with the Supervisor to ensure all staff meet competency training compliance. Trains non-supervisory staff on processes and practices of performing bedmaking duties as required. Organizes any and all phases of the unit to respond to urgent situations while maintaining job effectiveness. Provides the highest quality customer service to ensure quality output and professional results. Conducts 2-3 weekly walk through inspections in assigned areas to ensure all service routines and periodic duties are being satisfactorily accomplished. Reports results of walk throughs to the unit Supervisor for joint planning and corrective action to ensure cleanliness is at standard and to reduce or eliminate infectious control matters. Demonstrates proper work methods, obtaining needed information from supervisors on problems that may arise during the work day. Answers questions of other workers on procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Checks work while in progress and when finished to see whether the supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met. Operates power equipment, i.e., floor machines, vacuums, auto scrubbers, carpet shampoo machines, etc. Performs the same type of work as a Housekeeping Aid, which includes a full range of cleaning in any assigned area. Reports to supervisor on status of work and causes of work delays. Answers questions of supervisors on overall work operations and problems. Work Schedule: Various schedules available. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Duties require constant physical demands such as bending, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying and reaching. Incumbent consistently lifts from zero (0) to fifty (50) pounds and periodically lifting over fifty (SO) pounds. The incumbent must climb ladders to clean overhead equipment and operate heavy duty commercial cleaning equipment that requires eye, hand and body coordination. Duties may also require periodic setting of traps and crawl into space to place trap. Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Regular exposure to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and injury from falling stock or mechanized work areas. When working in hazardous materials areas, may be subject to exposure :from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hard hats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons.
