You will serve as a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER in the OPERATIONS DIVISION of NAVSUPACT MONTEREY SEC DET.

Duties

You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on weapons, protective equipment, and law enforcement related equipment. You will issue and maintain weapons and personal protective equipment to security and law enforcement personnel. You will ensure all weapons and ammunition are accounted for and required inventories executed within specified period. You will ensure all required standard operating procedures and applicable instructions for the armory remain current.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This is a bargaining unit position.
• This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
• The incumbent may be required to work Overtime, Shift, Weekend, and/or Holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS: ???????The work involves moderate risks or discomforts that require special safety precautions. Work is normally done in secure armory space with no windows. Occasionally, site of work may be indoor or outdoor firing range(s). Employee is subject to loud noises while using various tools and machinery in the repair and maintenance of the small arms. Exposed to grease, oil and solvents when cleaning and lubricating weapons. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises from tools or sharp edges of metal. Work may also involve exposure to industrial vehicles and moving machinery. Uses safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hard hats, and hard toe shoes. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
