You will serve as a Wood Worker in the Material Readiness Department of Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Logistics Center, Keyport Division, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania (NAVSEALOGCENKYPTDIVNUWC MECH PA) in Keyport, Washington.

Duties

You will provide woodworking, packing, packaging and preservation, and loading/off-loading of both on and off station shipments to Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Keyport. You will Improvise plans in order to brace and package irregular or unbalanced items by applying technical judgment. You will construct and repair wood or fiberboard boxes, dividers, or protective framing for individual shipments or specialized storage. You will use woodworking tools and equipment, measure, cut and manufacture proper shipping containers, fitting blocking, bracing, or cradles to provide proper support and protection for materials and equipment. You will prepare packing lists, complete shipping documents, and stencil or label identifying shipping and handling instructions on boxes or crates.

Requirements

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to obtain a Forklift/MHE license and/or certification within 90 days of appointment and maintain thereafter every five years until age 60 and annually thereafter.
