About the Position: Incumbent works as Security Assistant (OA) under the direct supervision of the District Chief, Security and Law Enforcement Officer.
Duties
Conduct personnel security operations utilizing various systems in order to verify eligibility, suitability, fitness, and clearance levels for federal employees and contractors of the agency.
Process personnel for automated building access and parking permits.
Assist with development and presentation of mandatory OPSEC training.
Perform basic administrative and clerical duties to include filing and preparing correspondence for Security Office.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-07 Qualifications:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing clerical and administrative tasks in support of established security programs; assisting with personnel security investigations to include initiating, coordinating, and tracking initial and periodic re-verification background checks; and performing support task related to security administration. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Security Administration or Law Enforcement.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages.
GS-07 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
