You will serve as a SHIPWRIGHT LEADER in the WATERFRONT SERVICES DIVISION (TRF-340), REPAIR DEPARTMENT (TRF-300) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will be responsible for instructing personnel in performing work which is typical of the shipwright trade. You will conduct training sessions and instruct personnel participating in organized training programs and subject matter which covers all phases of the shipwright occupation. You will research, develop, and administer shipwright trade training as required by the shipwright division. You will assign daily work to other workers and instruct them on work environments, methods and procedures and define the standards of quality and quantity of work performed. You will construct staging for ship work and build temporary wood supports, containments, and shoring of various kinds.

  • Must be able to acquire and maintain secret security clearance required by this position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of security clearance will result in removal.
  • Must be able to maintain an IT-II level designation.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • This position may require travel world wide at which time additional medical screening may be required.
  • Personnel will be performing tasks at heights requiring the use of fall protection required. Only use within the capacity range of 30 to 300 pounds can quality to utilize fall protection equipment.
  • May be assigned to any shift, shift hours, any basic workweek, and frequent overtime.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Lead Or Supervise: Applying a variety of methods, procedures and techniques to build structures to support submarines during graving operations, and fabricating, installing, and repairing a variety of materials to support the refit of submarines. Receiving and relaying instructions from the shop supervisor to the workers to ensure that schedules and completion dates are met in a proper and safe manner. Reporting to the supervisor on work progress, technical and personnel problems, material, and manpower requirements. Inspecting work while in progress and at completion. Enforcing regulations and rules on conduct, safety, and housekeeping. Inspects work while in progress and at completion. Maintains a current knowledge of procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives pertaining to shop operations to answer questions of other workers. Constructs staging/scaffolding for ship work and builds temporary wood supports, containments, and shoring of various kinds.
