The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Tools and Parts Attendant. The Tools and Parts Attendant will function in the Environmental Management Service.

Duties

Upkeep and maintenance of all housekeeping equipment, tools, and supplies utilized in sanitation operations of medical center. Maintenance of tool and parts storage location. Stages tools and equipment for projects and cleaning teams use Collect and package hazardous waste for storage and disposal using prescribed methods. Performs inspections and safety checks of housekeeping equipment and waste systems. Ensure products used by service are properly labeled using hazardous labeling guidelines. Assists in containment, treatment, and clean up operations resulting from hazardous spills Prepare and submit work orders as needed Inventory of tools and equipment used by service. Verifying requestor understand proper use of tools issued and demonstrating proper use of tools and equipment when needed. Will ensure EMS programs adhere to State and Federal waste disposal laws and guidelines. Provide reports and documentation in support of material management and tracking use of equipment. Work Schedule: M-F 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: Most work is accomplished standing up and involves frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Incumbent will be required to lift items up to 65 pounds and push carts up to 300 pounds. Incumbent must be able to read small print on labels and containers. Alertness and written communication required. Incumbent is exposed to contaminated waste and hazardous materials and chemicals. Must use appropriate protective safeguards. Most work is performed in a storeroom setting. Occasional outdoor work may be required. Risk of cuts, scrapes, bruises, or other injuries associated with equipment maintenance and stock management.
