Duties

As a Public Health Advisor, you will: Provide substantive program consultation, guidance, and assistance and is responsible for carrying out and promoting significant public health program activities in Federal, local, state, and international settings. Establish and maintain an integrated system of information gathering and reporting devices and analyzes the data and assesses the program needs in terms of strategies, services, and resources. Plan and administer a comprehensive public health program, including, but not limited to, service delivery, assessment, surveillance, quality assurance, partnerships and collaborations, outreach, orientation, training, reporting, and program implementation and evaluation. Collect and analyze data to address highly complex program needs. Develop and/or recommend program intervention, prevention, and/or control strategies. Prepare reports for use in evaluating program operations and the other work incidental to the development of information gathering system.

Minimum Qualifications: To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, which must include the following experience assisting in the management of public health programs or project operation within state and local public health programs. OR Education: Have a PhD in Public Health or other field of study with course work directly related to the work of the position, or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related. OR Combination of education and experience: Have a combination of experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
