This position is located in Everglades National Park, in the Maintenance Division. This job announcement is open to receive applications from the first 100 applicants. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee. DUTIES: The incumbent assist in the operation of the Reverse Osmosis water treatment plant, Membrane Bioreactor wastewater treatment plants and 12 small drinking water systems with disinfection, laboratory testing, adjusting pumps, return flow rates, and other process controls. They must also follow scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly inspections, routine servicing and troubleshooting of lift stations, mechanical equipment, automatic controls, and the collection system. Computerized utility systems and maintenance software are required, and the incumbent must learn proper methods for operating, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair for the following kinds of water treatment equipment: chemical solution feeders and chlorinators, mixed media pressure filters, slow sand filtration, cartridge type filtration systems, pressure regulators, flow meters, pumps of various types and sizes, altitude valves, air relief, pressure sustaining and reducing valves, floats and flow switches, tank alarm devices, continuous flow turbidity and chlorine residual analyzers/recorders, gravity type collection systems and various sizes and types of electric motors, speed controllers, circuit breakers, relays, circuits and electrical equipment. The incumbent performs routine maintenance, repairs, troubleshoots systems and individual components, makes replacements, and installs new systems, components, and equipment. They use operating principles, blueprints, diagrams, technical manuals, test equipment, and trade tools to repair and replace parts, troubleshoot, repair, tests, overhauls, modifies, calibrates, and installs equipment that can be multi-component and precision in nature. They also perform plumbing-related duties, such as planning, layout, and routing of piping systems, and must be able to adjust slant, slope, and set grade of these systems to ensure proper operation. Incumbent is expected to have a basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, operator and maintenance manuals, systems design, methods, and associated calculations and mathematics.

Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc. Technical Practices Use of Measuring Instruments Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of materials If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
