This position is in the Quality Safety and Value (QSV) Section, Office of the Director, Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, Chicago, IL, providing administrative and program support to the Chief, Quality Safety and Value (QSV) section and other subordinate staff as needed. Performs timekeeper functions for the section to ensure staff time worked is accurately reported and documented.

Duties

Duties include but not limited to: Responsible to the Chief of Quality Safety and Value (QSV) in processing daily assignments, scheduling, and insuring the QSV Section meets the demands of the medical center. Responsible for maintaining hospital committee minutes and team member of Medical Center Memorandum team Responsible for preparing the meeting minutes and agenda monthly. Maintain files for all assigned committee meeting minutes and other information required for each reference for assuring continual survey readiness Updates the main committee meeting minutes and provides a verbal report to the Chief of QSV on the status of the files on a monthly basis Prepares correspondence in the necessary format for identified QSV responses and reports. Processes employee travel and education requested in a timely manner Serves as the primary or alternate timekeeper, as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Full-time,Monday-Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for these positions, facility applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Non-facility applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/25/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: One (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skill, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the Program Support Assistant, GS-6 position, and that is in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-5 level in the Federal service to qualify at the Grade-6. Examples of specialized experience include (but are not limited to): demonstrate ability to screen, enter into computer and recognize areas for Performance Improvement activities, Ability to develop and maintain communication links between the department program initiatives to promote quality in clinical and administrative areas, Ability to provide technical assistance in matters pertaining to department Chief and staff members, Ability to support the immediate and long term organizational goals for the medical center though mandated training as well as attendance at workshops, prepare correspondence documents using automated information systems. As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. Proficiency Requirement: In addition to meeting experience and/or education requirements, applicants for this position must show possession of the following skill. Ability to type 40 words per minute. Applicants may meet this requirement by passing the appropriate performance test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificates, by the Office of Personnel Management local office, or by self-certifying their proficiency. Performance test results and certificates of proficiency are acceptable for 3 years. Agencies may verify proficiency skills of self-certified applicants by administering the appropriate performance test. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: CommunicationsComputer SkillsManages and Organizes InformationWriting Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: Individual for the most part sits in an office. Some bending and carrying of light items such as files and papers may be required in performing general office work. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office area with adequate heat, lighting, and cooling. Occasional visits to hospital clinics affording exposure to contagious diseases or travel to hospital affiliated satellite clinics may be required.
