You will serve as a Library Technician in the MCCS Library Programs of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will responsible for young adult and children’s collections by researching and recommending material for addition or deletion to the collection to the Library Branch Manager. You will provide reader advisory for all children and young adult books, periodicals, media, and other materials. You will answer reference questions from customers through the use of standard youth reference material, documents, and electronic resources. You will develop and deliver off site story times to multiple Child Development Centers, recommends book selections to early childhood educators, and compiles, maintains, and submits specific statistics for monthly and yearly reports. You will be responsible for researching and conducting multiple youth book clubs and teen events monthly. You will collect materials at remote book drop locations and prepares them for discharge.

Requirements

  • You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of general experience in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Education

In lieu of the general experience listed above, an applicant may also qualify based on one of the following:

I have successfully completed at least two full academic years of education above high school.

OR

I have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
