This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the Office of Currency Manufacturing DCF. As a Pressperson (LEPE) Leader, you will direct the activities of a crew consisting of three or more Pressmen and Assistant Pressmen. He or she is responsible to ensure the crew is knowledgeable in the performance of their jobs.

Duties

***The BEP is currently in the process of having a new facility built in Beltsville, MD and expect to move to the new facility within the next 5 years. If selected, you may be sent and/or reassigned to the new Beltsville facility. By applying to this position, you understand this potential requirement. As a Pressperson (LEPE) Leader, you will: Set up and adjust all components of the LEPE independently or through instructing crew members to maintain acceptable quality. This includes seal and packing adjustments, changing blankets and setting rollers, adjusting ink keys, adjusting fountain roller sweep and roller oscillation. Monitor and adjust the AFX Gross Error Detection and Data scan quality systems. Make continuous evaluation of the process and make necessary adjustments to maintain acceptable print quality. Adjust the setup for the knife cuts to ensure that correct note size is maintained. Responsible for entering LEPE control information into the computers. This includes process setup, load data Optical Camera Recognition sheets and straps and redline information.

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. You must meet the screen-out element, Ability to Lead or Supervise (Screen Out), normally addressed at the beginning of the online questionnaire. Minimal qualification is identified as holding a position in LEPE and have occasionally been assigned work as an acting lead pressman - directing the work of others in the set-up, operation, and adjustment of Large Examining Printing Equipment (LEPE) and tools. In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) on all rated elements addressed in the online questionnaire to be considered minimally qualified.
