THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D0419000 and is part of the IL AASF 1, National Guard.
Duties
As a AIRCRAFT PNEUDRAULIC SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-8268-10, you will perform Aviation Unit Maintenance (AVUM) and limited Aviation Intermediate Maintenance (AVIM) on aircraft pneudraulic systems.
Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list:
Select, study, utilize, and update technical manuals, TWXs, newsletters, MWOs, and files in support of functional area of responsibility.
Assist with identification and requisition of tools, parts, equipment, and bench stock required.
Assist in other functional areas within the Component Repair Shop as required.
Possess a complete working knowledge of portable and fixed test equipment used in this shop.
Make complete system diagnosis through use and understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic test equipment.
Manufacture permanent flow-pressure-time test setups to be used with components.
Inspect, maintain, modify, troubleshoot, repair, and test aircraft hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components.
Perform major repairs on pumps, accumulators, valves, brakes, wheels, shocks, struts, filters, booster units, and other related equipment.
Inspect for cracks, scratches, and nicks and take appropriate corrective action.
Investigate pneumatic and hydraulic failures and discrepancies to determine cause.
Make necessary repairs, adjustments, recommendations, or modifications to correct problems.
Accomplish TM modifications for pneumatic/hydraulic systems on aircraft and associated ground support equipment.
Qualifications
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence:
The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.
The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees.
The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.
The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership.
The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and the ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-10 Level - MUST possess specialized experience which includes knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; experience in fabricating fuel, oil, and vacuum hose lines; experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling, assembling, repairing, and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems; experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning parts, and examining parts; experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies; experience in repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems; experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment; and experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications.
