About the Position: This position serves as an Office Secretary in support of the Command Group in Savannah, GA.

Duties

Serve as the office secretary in support of the Command Group. Maintains the Commander's calendar and scheduling. Manages commander’s travel arrangements, booking, orders, and vouchers. Independently plan routine as well as non-routine administrative procedural work. Prepares and reviews executive correspondence.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
  • This position requires a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

Specialized Experience (GS-08): One year of specialized experience which includes preparing and reviewing executive correspondence, working with travel agencies or representatives to arrange travel itineraries for executive leadership, maintaining office calendars and schedules, tracking various office related actions, and preparing reports for management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/ level in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Typist Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalCustomer ServiceOrganizational Awareness GS-07 Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
