The position is located in the Public Liaison and Education Branch (PLEB), Office of Science Communication, Public Liaison and Education (OSCPLE), National Eye Institute (NEI). The incumbent in this role serves as a technical expert and advisor in the design, implementation and evaluation of the National Eye Health Education Program (NEHEP).
Duties
Responsible for the development of annual program plans which address both regional and national eye health and vision research.
Use knowledge of health education/health promotion methodologies, chronic disease and chronic disease risk factors when advising on the development of health education/evaluation strategies.
Serve as a project lead responsible for coordinating the design and development of instructional projects.
Prepare and submit reports and other resources for use in newsletters, "how to" manuals and programmatic and scientific meetings.
Advise on new platforms and new approaches for engaging professional and public audiences in content about eye health and vision research.

Qualifications
You qualify for a Public Health Advisor GS-0685-12 if you meet the following qualification requirement: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: performing work related to the planning, development, administration and delivery of public health programs; monitoring public health projects to ensure they are in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and policies; conducting studies and analyses to evaluate the administration and implementation of public health programs; and maintaining working relationships with multiple public health stakeholders.
You qualify for a Public Health Advisor GS-0685-13 if you meet the following qualification requirement: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: developing short and long range plans for public health programs; monitoring public health programs to ensure they are in compliance with applicable laws and regulations; providing public health program consultation and policy guidance; coordinating negotiations between public health stakeholders; and establishing and maintaining working relationships and cooperation with multiple public heath stakeholders.
