This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Atlantic Area, National Strike Force Coordination Center, Incident Managment Assist Team, Logistics Department in Portsmouth, VA.
Duties
This position is located within the U.S. Coast Guard Incident Management Assist Team (CG-IMAT) Logistics Department, National Strike Force (NSF), Atlantic Area (CG-LANTAREA), based in Norfolk, Virginia. The position primarily serves as an Emergency Management Specialist with primary focus as an ICS Logistics Section Chief (LSC) and an ICS Communications Unit Leader (COML) during deployments.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This position requires a Secret clearance.
- The position requires a valid state driver's license.
- This position may require a one year probationary period.
Qualifications
Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, or abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include:
Specialized experience include: preparing for and carrying out or coordinating emergency functions to prevent, protect from, mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters; and to aid victims suffering from injury or damage resulting from disaster caused by natural or man-made hazards.
National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
