You will serve as a MATERIAL EXAMINER AND IDENTIFIER in the NATURAL RESOURCES AND ENVIROMENTAL OFFICE (NREAO) of MCRD ERR PI SC.

Duties

You will receive, inspect, identify, and segregate incoming material to verify material accountability. You will examine and identify materials which are toxic or hazardous to avoid potential hazards. You will perform disposal tasks that require dealing with reuse, salvage, and sales preparation of items and materials. You will consolidate, re-warehouse, and protect warehouse material from deterioration, damage, or pilferage. You will determine the location and arrangement of material to be stored. You will inspect items received for adherence to terms of contracts, purchase orders, or government specifications. You will prepare and process documentation, special handling labels, and shipping codes for hazardous materials to be packed, stored, and shipped. You will complete and sign documents to indicate receipt, inspection, and acceptance of materials.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • you must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Examining and determining the condition, handling, and packaging of items received; inventories and inspects industrial equipment and commercial vehicles on a regular bases and reports discrepancies. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.
