You will serve as a Facility Operations Specialist of NAVY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.

Duties

You will serve as the chief adviser on matters of space utilization, reorganization, and coordination of new and existing program spaces. You will serve as a subject matter technical expert for government-owned and GSA leased space, facilities engineering, and architecture. You will advise management on procedures for developing and executing facility maintenance, repair and construction projects and lease acquisition of new spaces. You will provide advice to management, and other senior leaders, on all matters pertaining to facilities and infrastructure including facility planning, repair, restoration, improvement planning.

  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field 0346 Level III. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting and advising senior officials in the management of day-to-day operations for facilities 2) Utilizing facility regulatory requirement and of infrastructure components such as structural, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, civil, life safety, janitorial services, and security systems 3) Developing budgetary resource requirements and establishing priorities for facilities maintenance and repair Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Are you applying for a promotion? If you are a current GS employee applying for a higher grade than the grade that you currently hold you must provide an SF-50 that shows that you have held the next lower grade for at least one year. Some SF-50s effective within the last 52 weeks will not demonstrate you have held the next lower grade for at least one year (e.g. General Adjustment SF-50 from this year).
