About the Position: Serves as a Clerical Assistant at Hartwell Project, a large multiple-purpose lake, which has a large recreation and shoreline management/real estate programs, and high annual visitation by lake visitors. This position is the primary point of contact for the Hartwell Project Visitor Center and serves as Clerical Assistant (Office Automation) performing all providing clerical and administrative support to the Lake and Powerplant Offices work.
Duties
Serve as primary customer service representative through provision of timely and accurate information in person and by phone.
Process incoming/outgoing communications in the form of emails, letters, and voice mails and direct questions to appropriate individual.
Coordinate issuance of permits and passes.
Maintain assigned financial accounts to ensure accuracy and timely payment.
Create purchase requests for a wide variety of procurement actions.
Prepare travel orders and travel vouchers for project personnel.
Serve as authorized fee collector.
Provide clerical/administrative support to a varied work force.
Screens incoming mail and distributes to appropriate individual..
Prepare a wide variety of reports and correspondence and enters, updates, and reviews data in appropriate systems for accuracy and completeness.
Serves as timekeeper for assigned personnel.
Maintain project files in accordance with applicable filing system.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Employee may be required to perform Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) of 5% of the time in this position.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- May be required to wear a NRM uniform.
- A qualified typist is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; Provide clerical and administrative support primarily for the power plant office, performing a variety of clerical, administrative, budgetary, and purchasing functions in support of a project. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
