Duties

You will plan, develop, evaluate, coordinate, and implement programmatic initiatives and requirements to improve environmental compliance for an organization engaged in diverse high-risk functions and activities. You will serve as the primary NSWDG point of contact for environmental information, planning, monitoring, analysis, inspection, review, and compliance with federal, state, and local environmental standards and regulations. You will serve as the technical expert for one or more of the following environmental program media areas: Air Quality; Water Quality; Hazardous Waste Management and Disposal; Pollution Prevention and Hazardous Waste Minimization. You will prepare data in support of environmental annual reports as required by Department of Defense installations and Navy Special Warfare Command (NSWC). You will assist installations and Navy Special Warfare Command in routine audits as required by regulation, permits, or Department of Navy (DoN) instructions to verify compliance.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: providing knowledge and guidance on the principles, practices, and methods of program or administrative work relating to environmental protection programs. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: identifying, developing, and implementing environmental compliance activities; and providing technical advice to assist in resolving critical issues regarding compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and hazardous waste management. Education

In lieu of specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, applicants may qualify for the GS-11 position based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:

Have successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.

OR

Have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

OR
