About the Position: This position is located with the 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Transportation Division, Fort Leavenworth, KS. This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. Please see "Additional Information" section below for further details.

Duties

Perform onsite inspections to monitor shipping contractor's performance during packing of household goods. Process inbound/outbound inspection data utilizing automated systems such as Transportation Operations Property System (TOPS), Defense Personal Property System (DPS). Utilize automated systems to produce correspondence such as inspections reports, deficiency reports etc. Recommend corrective actions when contractor deficiencies such as improper packing and/or loading are encountered.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires a qualified typist (at least 40 wpm with 3 or fewer errors.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a Tier 1 (NACI) security investigation.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work overtime to include nights, holidays and weekends.
  • This position may require the incumbent to travel (TDY) up to 20% of the time.
  • This position requires the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License

Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Monitoring, observing and/or evaluating operations; 2) Detecting unsatisfactory conditions and/or procedures; 3) Recommending corrective actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
