The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) is the principal fact-finding agency for the federal government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. The BLS is an independent national statistical agency that collects, processes, analyzes, and disseminates essential statistical data to the American public, the U.S. Congress, other federal agencies, state and local governments, business, and labor. The BLS also serves as a statistical resource to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide general clerical, administrative, and program support to the regional office organization. Work requires a practical understanding of the structures, functions, processes, and objectives of the organization served.
Assists and/or provides support to program specialists by performing limited sections of program-related work such as reviewing documents, conducting research, compiling data, and/or responding to routine questions from internal and external customers.
Reviews requests, reports, correspondence, and other similar clerical, administrative and/or program-related documents, performing preliminary analyses for appropriate format, distribution, and/or inclusion of required information.
Performs a variety of office support functions which may include any of the following: receiving telephone calls and visitors; maintaining schedules and calendars; monitoring office expenses; maintaining forms or records; making purchases; serving as a timekeeper; managing travel; arranging meetings or making logistical arrangements; distributing or sending mail; managing fleet operations; etc.
Performs badge activities in the PIV Credentialing center including PIV Enrollments, Activations, Updates and Terminations and keeps management informed about PIV operations.
Assists the Regional Administrative Office in processing staff and other administrative duties as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Requires a probationary period if the requirement has not been met.
- Candidate required to obtain the necessary security/investigation level.

For GS-06: Applicants must have 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-05 in the Federal Service.
Specialized Experience is the experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform the duties of the position successfully, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.Qualifying specialized experience includes:
Prepare and submit documents to purchase supplies and equipment, justifying purchases;
Experience establishing employee time and attendance profiles;
Working knowledge of a variety of software and computer operations; and/or
Provide advice and guidance to a unit on administrative and management services.
