Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Performs administration, scoring and reporting. of cognitive and neuropsychological tests and instruments; uses appropriate age and cultural norms in gathering and reporting, data and observations. Conducts standardized interviews; questionnaires and checklists identified-by supervising doctoral staff psychologist; uses appropriate age arid cultural norms in gathering and reporting data and observations. Manages maintenance of standardized testing environment and procedures, adequate supply of testing materials and instruments, and appropriate cleaning of test materials and instruments: Interacts therapeutically and appropriately with psychiatric and medically ill patients, their families and caregivers. Maintains awareness of psychological state of patient during contact and clinical work. Establishes adequate rapport for patient cooperation and effort to ensure valid-test results. Writes clear and thorough documentation of all clinical services in chart and accurately enter all appropriate workload. Manage referrals, consultations and cases by monitoring scheduling and appointments, wait lists, testing progress, reports, and ·other administrative tasks to maintain efficient and timely services to Veterans. Perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not Approved. English Language Proficiency: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. The English language proficiency statement appears as a Selective Placement Factor on the Assessment Questionnaire. BASIC EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Successfully completed a bachelor's degree (or higher) from an accredited college or university with a major in an appropriate social or biological science which included or was supplemented by 12 semester hours in psychology. This education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Note: You must submit transcript(s) (unofficial) with your application. Education cannot be credited without proper documentation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess at least one (1) full year of technical work under the direction of a professional psychologist in a program of professional services, training or research. At least six (6) months of experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade in the Federal service (GS-6) or one (1) year comparable to the second lower grade (GS-5) in the Federal service . NOTE Experience under the direction of a professional psychologist is required and must be documented on your resume. Performance of these tasks requires a practical understanding of some of the general principles, theories, methods and techniques of psychology in order to carry out duties which are performed under the supervision of a professional psychologist. These duties may include one or more of the following: (1) assist in research as in systematic collection of psychology research data, recording and collecting of data, preparing tabular or graphic presentation of data, in accordance with a predetermined research plan; (2) assist counseling psychologist in contacting potential employers for purpose of making vocational placement, providing follow-up consultation, administering and scoring of interest, achievement and aptitude tests, securing work history and other relevant vocational information; (3) assist neuropsychologist in administering and scoring of selected tests of a neuropsychology battery in accordance with clearly defined procedures; (4) assist psychologists in completing behavior rating scales or in conducting behavior modification. NOTE: Experience under the direction of a professional psychologist is required and MUST be documented on your resume. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must clearly indicate the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. ~OR~ EDUCATION: Possess at least one (1) full year of graduate study in Psychology at an accredited college or university. NOTE: If you select this option, you must submit a copy of your transcript with your application. Education cannot be credited without documentation. ~OR~ SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT (SAA) GS-7: At the baccalaureate level in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Applicants who wish to apply under this provision must submit proof from their educational institution that they meet one of the criteria listed below. You must submit a copy of your transcript with your application. Education cannot be credited without documentation. To qualify for SAA, applicants must have completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled and meet one of the following: A. A grade-point average of B (a G.P.A. of 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all completed undergraduate courses, or those completed in the last two (2) years of undergraduate study. B. A grade-point average of B+ (a G.P.A. of 3.45 or higher out of a possible 4.0) for all courses in your major field of study, or those courses in your major completed in the last two (2) years of undergraduate study. C. Rank in the upper one-third (1/3) of your class in the college, university, or major subdivision. D. Membership in a national scholastic honor society (other than freshman honor societies) recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Clinical Data Collection/DocumentationFlexibilityInterventionPsychological Assessment IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: Work requires regular and recurring periods of standing, sitting, walking, lifting, moving equipment and furniture and other items along with documentation and use of computers.
