This position is located at the Richmond VA Medical Center, Health Administration Service (HAS) in Richmond, Virginia. The primary purpose of this position is to supervise and direct the day-to-day Beneficiary Travel (BT) Program activities, including patient support, Special Mode Travel, mileage reimbursement claims, transportation contracts, ambulance claims, inter-facility transfers, and common carrier transportation.
Duties

Supervise and ensure the Beneficiary Travel Program complies with regulatory guidance while assuring program effectiveness.
Assists the Mobility Manager in working with state veterans and transportation agencies to establish expanded transportation networks.
Works as the primary Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and program manager for all transportation contracts.
Routinely collaborates with the Mobility Manager for workload forecasting, scheduling, design, procedure development, and quality improvement.
Maintains contacts with various community transportation services and community agencies.
Interacts with other medical centers to ensure integrated transportation services are provides in a cost-effective manner.
Represents BT on committees and workgroups at local, regional, or national level.
Assists with the analysis of past expenditure trends to use in formulating budget requests.
Promotes improved performance for the BT program and promotes a positive Culture of Service.
Establishes guidelines, and performance expectations for staff.
Observes and evaluates employee performance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00am to 4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirement:
Specialized Experience: Have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-7) in Federal Service that has given you the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of a Supervisory Transportation Assistant GS-8. Specialized experience includes: managing travel methods for enrollees, managing travel claims for reimbursement; administering travel related contracts, monitoring the scheduling of routine transportation; handling travel issues and refunds; providing customer service, resolving conflicts and complaints, monitoring budget execution, providing personnel and administrative management support to employees. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title; duties; month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary, although some slight physical effort may be required. Travel may be required on a periodic basis.
