About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/U. S. Army Forces Strategic Command, 1st Space Brigade S-2, Colorado Springs, CO 80916.

Duties

Serves as Security Specialist for the 1st Space Brigade. Responsible for implementing and executing the Brigade’s collateral security programs. Oversees physical security, information security, intelligence oversight, and is responsible for access control for the Brigade and security support for the Department of the Army Cryptologic Access program and Foreign Disclosure Program. Acts as Brigade Special Security Representative (SSR) for Brigade SCIFs, assisting the Brigade’s Alternate SSO.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret (TS) security clearance based on a Tier 5 investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • This position has been identified for the Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification Program.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial period may be required.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information SecurityOral CommunicationPersonnel SecuritySecurity Program Management Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.
