The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Chief, Maintenance Operations Flight to plan, direct, organize, and exercise control over nonsupervisory employees assigned to the function.

Duties

Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the 940 MXG, ensuring that the Maintenance Operation section complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs. Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. Represents the 940 MXG with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Reviews Status of Resources and Training (SORTS) data, analysis reports and other sources of information to determine strengths and weaknesses.

  • The employee is required to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance as a condition of employment.
  • A one (1) year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR CURRENT/PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: One year of specialized experience for GS-1152-11 level positions which includes knowledge of the production organization, to include all departments being coordinated both internal and external, and all requirements for the assigned aircraft, to include the organizations required for all production methods and procedures. Knowledge and skill of the aircraft production work processes, facilities, methods, equipment, and manning requirements to perform production control functions and to evaluate and recommend solutions to problem areas within the Maintenance Operations Flight. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR APPLICANTS WITH NO PREVIOUS FEDERAL EMPLOYMENT: One year of specialized experience for GS-1152-11 level positions which includes knowledge of the production organization, to include all facilities, methods, equipment, and manning requirements to perform production control functions and to evaluate and recommend solutions to problem areas within the Maintenance Operations Flight. Departments being coordinated both internal and external, and all requirements for the assigned aircraft, to include the organizations required for all production methods and procedures. Knowledge and skill of the aircraft production work processes, facilities, methods, equipment, and manning requirements to perform production control functions and to evaluate and recommend solutions to problem areas within the Maintenance Operations Flight. NOTE: YOU MUST SUBMIT COPIES OF YOUR TRANSCRIPTS. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of the production organization and established production methods, processes, labor, machinery, manpower, and material requirements for the repair, overhaul, and/or modification of a variety of complex aircraft and commodity items. 2. Knowledge of production policies and regulations and how to properly apply them to prevent or alleviate production delays and scheduling conflicts; plan for and alleviate material shortages or delays; and correct faulty or ineffective production methods, procedures, or operations. 3. Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, instructions, functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods. 4. Skill in planning unprogrammed workloads; scheduling and balancing planned and unplanned workloads; and maintaining production schedules for complex items utilizing multiple process production methods and procedures. 5. Ability to gather, analyze and present facts, communicate effectively, using tact and courtesy and the ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. 6. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of the organization as a first level supervisor; including ability to effectively apply agency personnel, safety, and security regulations, practices, and procedure. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
