This is a Temporary Appointment not-to-exceed 6 months or 1039 hours. Appointment to this position will not convey permanent status.

Duties

Conduct maintenance of recreation and administrative sites including repairs to facilities. Repair or replace roofs, doors, wall surfaces, fences, posts, barriers, signs, bulletin boards, and kiosks. Maintain paint on buildings and other structures. Repair plumbing, potable water systems, and irrigation systems. Repair and maintain road by repainting striping, filling potholes, and installing speed bumps. Repair and maintain trails. Perform landscape maintenance such as mowing, weed abatement, spraying herbicides, planting, seeding, and installing irrigation systems. Operates various types of equipment including heavy-duty 4x4 pickups, forklift, mower, motorized weed eater, ATV or UTV, skid-steer loader, and a hydraulic pump. Constructs and installs facilities at recreation sites. Fabricates and installs bulletin boards, signs, kiosks. Forms, pours, spreads, and levels concrete walkways to ADA standards. Forms and installs tent pads in campsites, pipe safes, fires grills, and picnic tables. Performs routine cleaning of facilities and grounds. Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains restroom facilities, and other sites, comfort stations, picnic tables, and fire grills, and picking up litter at recreation sites.

Qualifications

OPM Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations will be used in determining your qualifications. There is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate through experience shown in the resume materials, that you possess the skill level that has equipped you with the particular job elements to successfully perform the duties of a Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. To qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate that you have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job elements: (Screen-Out) Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. (Screen-Out) Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license while employed in this position. Job Element 1: Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc. Job Element 2: Technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic). Job Element 3: Use of measuring instruments. Job Element 4: Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (includes blueprinting reading). Job Element 5: Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Job Element 6: Knowledge of maintenance work related to maintaining grounds, building, and exterior structures.
