This position is located at Mint, HQ-Office of the Dir/Chief Admin Officer/IT Dir/Infra Ops Div/Data Center. As an IT Specialist, you will be accountable & responsible for the entire Data Center Support Service & day-to-day Operations, provide restoration of service whenever possible, maximize service availability, automate the Infrastructure process & system, own & manage data & network incidents throughout their lifecycle, & provide thorough & effective communication to users & management.
Duties
As an IT Specialist, you will:
Establish division objectives, prioritizing tasks and providing staff direction and guidance; the position requires someone with advanced critical thinking and judgment skills.
Maintain a broad scope of technical expertise and knowledge on current and emerging technologies and evaluates their impact on US Mint networks and systems.
Provide in-depth and independent technical guidance, services, technologies, advice, and recommendations to US Mint senior leaders and act as a technical lead of federal and contractor IT professionals maintaining US Mint systems, networks, and connectivity.
Provide functional, technical and developmental support of hardware, and data center support for ERP applications, order management system, call center, ecommerce web, legacy, manufacturing specific and other IT systems Performs data center and application testing and development and optimizes the functionality of systems, networks, and data ensuring system upgrade compatibility.
Serve as a Contracting Officer's Technical Representative (COTR), which includes actively participating in the development of business alliances, acquisitions, and divestitures; source selection, vendor negotiation, tracking, measuring, and reporting contractor performance; etc.
Review program plans or proposals to determine time frames and funding limitations procedures for accomplishing program, staffing requirements, and allotments of available resources to various phases of projects,
Develop business cases in conformance with the Mint's established capital planning process and presents the cases for approval, once approved oversees the design, construction, testing and implementation of the project.
Support and lead minor and major projects enterprise wide.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes ALL the following:
- Evaluating, designing, implementing, and managing systems and services (e.g. IT Service Management, Windows and Linux OS, Cloud); AND
- Providing technical guidance, expertise, and knowledge of best practices in a data center and cloud centric environment; AND
- Experience with data center management, processes, and tools (e.g. IPAM, Windows and Linux automation, virtualization, server and network monitoring); AND
- Experience with project standards and methodology; AND
- Leading major projects and reporting out to senior management and stakeholders.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
