You will serve as an INSULATOR SUPERVISOR Iin the Pipe Shop (Code 960) Production Resources Department manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will be responsible for the quantity and quality of work performed by subordinates, applying your expert knowledge of the methods, techniques, procedures, tools, materials, and practiced of the insulator trade.
You will effectively provide performance evaluation and feedback to work leaders and journeymen.
You will establish deadline, priorities, and work sequences.
You will analyze work plans developed by subordinate work leaders and journeymen.
You will utilize information from blueprints, sketches, nuclear engineering work documents and job orders to execute work operations.
You will provide expert advice and guidance on insulator processes and trade skills to management and mixed trade supervisors.
You will maintain accurate records of time expended and progress on assigned jobs.
Requirements

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- The position often requires irregular hours.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

Experience applying Advanced Industrial Management (AIM) processes.
Experience with current basic nuclear trade skill qualifications applicable to the insulator trade
Experience ensuring production schedules are executed by assigning personnel that have current qualifications to perform task within their position description and monitoring required training courses and medical evaluations while adhering to applicable employee union rights.
Experience working with Submarines and/or Surface Ship systems, components, compartments and tanks.
Experience implementing methods to individual journeyman that promote growth and continuous learning, communicating performance evaluations and providing feedback to work leaders and journeyman.
Experience reviewing work plans and communicating work assignments to subordinate work leaders.
