About the Position: This position is located at Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Duties

Clean all equipment and work areas after each use. Prepare a variety of breakfast items, short order items and convenience items. Mix ingredients according to computerized or written recipes that avoid food material waste. Operate a variety of kitchen equipment, which utilizes gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources. Process food items to include cutting, peeling, trimming, slicing, dicing, pureeing, dredging, flouring, and breading. Follow established sanitation procedures when handling food.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
  • A pre-placement medical examination may be required.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
  • This position may require rotating shifts (i.e. work schedule that requires employees to continuously rotate from one shift to another at predetermined intervals).

Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Cook ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties of preparing and cooking a variety of simple menu items that require little or no processing; setting up and serving hot and/or cold food on cafeteria and patient tray lines adhering to portion control; following safety and sanitation procedures in food handling and in cleanup. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal SupervisionAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc.Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and EquipmentDexterity and SafetyKnowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic)Work Practices Physical Effort Performs work requiring continual standing and walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling, and bending. Frequently lifts or moves objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves objects weighing over 40 pounds with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers. Working Conditions The work is performed in kitchen area, which is well lighted but is often hot and noisy. Is exposed to steam, fumes, and odors from cooking and to extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigeration or freezing units. There is danger of slipping on wet floors that have been recently mopped or where food has been spilled. Is subject to possible cuts from knives and burns from steam, hot foods, stoves, and hot grease and water. Hearing protective devices and/or other protective devices and/or safety equipment must be worn during all periods of time incumbent is exposed to the hazardous conditions(s).
