You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the Fire and Emergency Services of NAS JRB FT WORTH.

Duties

You will assign work to junior firefighters or employees based on priorities, requirements, and capabilities. You will oversee reviews of plans for new construction, alteration, and extension of existing structures. You will perform crash-rescue and firefighter duties involving air traffic operations. You will establish on-scene control procedures (e.g., zone control, decontamination) in a hazardous material incident. You will manage a fire and emergency services (F and ES) vehicle maintenance program.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card to make official government purchases for goods and services.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying principles, practices, and techniques applicable to fire protection elements involving fire prevention, aircraft, structural, and ordinance; 2) Training personnel in fire protection and prevention; and 3) Managing a hazardous materials protection and control program (i.e., knowledge of hazardous materials used; development of contingency plan; deployment of vehicles with specialized equipment, etc.) This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer III, Fire Inspector II, Fire Instructor II, Airport Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Incident Commander, Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician. These certifications must have been awarded by DOD, IFSAC or Pro-board to meet the requirement. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with your application to verify eligibility. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
