About the Position: Incumbent is responsible for assistance and investigative functions including complaint preliminary analysis; oversight and assistance for directed investigations and investigative inquiries; and the conduct of directed investigations and investigative inquiries.

Duties

Provide administrative and technical oversight and support on DoD Hotline cases conducted within the Assistance Division and by IGs world-wide. Prepare Hotline Completion Reports, briefings, executive summaries and information papers on select cases for Senior Officials. Work discretely with Investigations Division, DAIG on sensitive cases involving alleged misconduct on the part of General Officers or Senior Executive Service personnel. Recommend action to terminate inquiries or send the case to the Major Army Command Inspector General if there is information that reveals the matter is not within the purview of DAIG. Track investigative status of cases, maintain complete accountability of them, and ensure corrective action on all cases in which there are substantiated allegations.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain an Inspector General (IG) certificate from the Inspector General School upon completion of the three week IG Training. Incumbent is subject to removal if unable to obtain certification at the end of training.
• Applicants referred for consideration will be subject to a database check against the Army Inspector General Action Request (IGARS) database to screen for substantiated and ongoing IG investigations.
• A social security number (SSN) is required to conduct the background investigation; applicants must supply their SSN when asked by the hiring authority.
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 10 pounds is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• One year trial/probationary period may be required.
