About the position: This position will be assigned to the Eisenhower Golf Course, Air Force Academy, Colorado. This position does not include benefits. Position is seasonal May through October.

Duties

Assists the Operations Manager with the supervision of the Pro Shop Sales operation and outside golf support operations (i.e. club storage, cart operation, starter/monitors, and driving range operation). Relays instructions from the supervisor to other workers and gets the work pace started. Receives and resolves difficult customer complaints and requests for special services. Assists in the management of all golf course tournaments to include all aspects from beginning to end. Oversees the collection of all fees and charges and that proper cash handling procedures are followed. Maintains the pro shop merchandise by creating new displays monthly and also maintains a positive and welcoming atmosphere. Oversees the timely opening and closing of the Pro Shop to include proper activation and deactivation of the security/alarm system. Plans and organizes golf clinics for juniors golfers enrolled in the Junior Golf Program, ages 7 to 17 at varying experience and skill levels. Responsible for signing up students for the program and determining the level of instruction they will be assigned. Prior to clinics sets up the range with balls and equipment. Instructs beginner to advanced level students in all aspects of the game of golf. Specific areas of instruction include: safety, etiquette, rules, and fundamentals of the game to include putting, chipping, pitching, sand play, short irons, medium irons, long irons and woods. Supervises all student play. Monitors player progress, reevaluating instruction level as necessary by working with Junior Golf Coordinator. Performs other related duties as assigned. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Applicant must be currently enrolled in a Professional Golf Management (PGM) program at a PGM University or enrolled in the PGA/LPGA Apprentice Program. Subject to satisfactory completion of installation, state and national background checks. This position requires the incumbent to satisfactory complete the Tier One background investigation. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
